Women's Health Physiotherapy

Women's Health Physiotherapy is a lesser known area of physiotherapy and an area far less talked about. Yet  these conditions can affect far more people than we even know, and can play a key role in our quality of life.

Bladder and bowel dysfunctions or pelvic conditions can affect up to 1 in 4 of the Australian population of Women. Yet we know that less than half seek help in their lifetime.

For many women there is a misconception that certain bladder, bowel or pelvic pain conditions are conditions are acceptable to live with, but are unaware that there a many treatments available. Through women's health physiotherapy we can help assess, educate, treat and assist alleviate and manage symptoms appropriately, enabling woman to gain back freedom and confidence in their day to day life!

We treat a wide range of Women's health conditions through every life stage.

Conditions we treat:
- Incontinance, urgency or other urinary/bowel dysfunctions
- Prolapse (sorry, pessary fitting and management are not available quite yet! Check back in future!)
- Pelvic floor muscle weakness
- Pelvic pain - both inside and out! We can assist treat:
       - Pelvic Pain including pain associated with the pubic symphysis, Sacroiliac joint, and back (and of course many interconnected parts of thoracic/ribs, hips etc).
       - Pelvic floor pain - involving the internal pelvic muscles.
-  Neurological pain conditions including disc, nerve conditions involving nerves of the back (e.g. sciatic, radicular nerve pain) or inside the pelvis.
-  Pre and post natal care as detailed in the pregnancy care section below.

Of course many of these conditions are not isolated to Women, so Men if you have any enquires feel free to touch base and we can let you know if we can assist or can hopefully point you in the right direction.

Many Women's health conditions can interact with musculoskeletal symptoms, so this is where our integrative approach as both Women's health and musculoskeletal physiotherapists can be that key part of the puzzle in chronic hip and pelvic pain conditions to optimise your care.

Please note: whilst we can assess and assist you in strategies for prolapse management, we are not yet set up for Pessary fitting and management in the clinic. We do have great contacts who complete this sort of work if we think you will benefit from this as a treatment option.

Please Note our Booking Policy:
When you make an appointment, you are reserving the practitioner’s time. If you do not attend the appointment without notice or cancel late, another person who is in need may not have the chance to see the Practitioner. We ask you provide at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or changes to your appointment to allow your spot to be given to someone else in need who is awaiting an appointment.

Failure to give 24 hours’ notice will incur a 100% cancellation fee to cover the consult cost as the practitioner’s time has been reserved for you. You may cancel/reschedule appointments anytime before the 24hour period with no charge. Your appointment time is reserved just for you. This means, that if you arrive late your appointment is shortened as all appointments are booked back to back I.e. if you arrive at 4.15pm for a 4-4.30pm appointment you will have 15 minutes remaining. We understand that circumstances do happen where you may be unable to attend but unfortunately the fee does apply to all circumstances to ensure our sustainability as a business, as without notice we are left with a gap.

The cancellation fee applies to Workers Compensation and CTP appointments as well and must be paid out of the patients' pocket. It will not be covered by the insurer.
