Director, Lauren Bailey is an experienced Physiotherapist working in private practice and sports for over 18 years.

Lauren enjoys the diversity of her clientele having worked over the years with patients of all ages and from all walks of life, as well as many dancers, sporting teams and athletes from club to professional level both in the clinic and field side.  Highlights include working with the AFL NSW/ACT Talented player program, touring with an American basketball team (Portland Pilots), and as Physiotherapist on the Lady Gaga ‘Born This Way' tour in 2012.

Always involved in sport herself, she has a personal background in gymnastics and diving competing at a high level growing up. She coached and judged gymnastics for many years before studying physiotherapy, which sharpened her eye for analysing movement patterns and dysfunctions – skills that now underpin her physiotherapy practice.

Later in life, Lauren transitioned into marathon running and ironman triathlon competing nationally as a sponsored athlete for several years. Unfortunately, a series of significant cycling accidents cut this chapter short due to numerous injuries. Whilst challenging, these experiences offered valuable insight into being a patient, strengthening her understanding of recovery, rehabilitation and the treatments that truly make a difference.

During her rehabilitation she was lucky enough to spend time with a sports doctor who mentored her. In this time, she developed a strong interest in complex pain conditions (especially of the pelvis, hip and spine), sports injury management, orthopaedic and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Lauren loves building her knowledge in all areas of physiotherapy and frequently attends training courses to advance her knowledge and to provide patients with the most up to date information and practice possible.

She has completed advanced training in Sports Physiotherapy, dry needling, Kinesio taping, and numerous advanced manual therapy courses, including muscle energy techniques, cranial therapy for jaw pain, headaches and dizziness, and whole-body integrative approaches such as LJ Lee’s connect therapy and Diane Lee’s Integrated systems model. These methods focus on how different regions of the body interact and influence one other.

To compliment these therapies Lauren has trained in real time ultrasound for imaging and biofeedback for direct visualisation of injuries and muscle training for rehabilitation. She also holds addition certification in Clinical Pilates and rehabilitation, having used Pilates across her life for injury prevention and to enhance performance across her sports, and then in rehabilitation for her injuries. This nicely compliment her treatments where suitable to optimise results.

Lauren has also completed Women's Health Physiotherapy training – covering pre- and post-natal care and exercise, pelvic floor assessment and treatment for pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunctions (see our Woman’s Health information page for more details).

With so many techniques to choose from, Lauren knows there is no one size fits all approach to patient care and tailors her treatments to suit each person’s unique needs. Her approach will typically look at the whole body -- looking beyond isolated areas to the many interconnected systems within the body. This can be especially valuable in patients with complex, long standing, or recurrent problems help narrow down the true source of the problem, more specifically target care and make treatment more effective.

With combined experience across musculoskeletal, sports and women’s health physiotherapy, Lauren values being able to bridge these areas together which are more commonly seen across multiple different practitioners. By integrating these areas together, she can provide a more complete and comprehensive experience.
